Dipu Moni (born 8 December 1965) is a Bangladeshi politician , current Minister of Education in the Government of Bangladesh and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. She is known as the first woman foreign minister and the first woman education minister of Bangladesh. Besides, he is the joint general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League . Since 2008, he has been serving as a Member of Parliament for Chandpur-3 Constituency.

Early life
Dipu Moni was born on December 8, 1965 in Kamranga village of Rampur Union of Chandpur Sadar Upazila . [3] His father was the Ekushey Medal winning language activist and politician MA Wadud . Mother Rahima Wadud was a teacher. Among his 2 siblings only brother JR Wadud Tipu is a doctor.
Education
Dipu Moni passed HSC from Holy Cross College . He did MBBS from Dhaka Medical College and LLB from Bangladesh National University . After receiving his MBBS degree , he obtained his MPH degree from the School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University , USA . [5] He also completed a Masters in Law from the University of London [6] and a course on Conciliation and Conflict Resolution from Harvard University . [ citation needed ]
Family
Bangladesh Supreme Court Advocate Taufiq Nawaz Dipu Moni’s husband. He heads an international law firm. He is an artist of ‘alap’. They have two children. Son Tauqir Rashad Nawaz and daughter Tani Deepavali Nawaz.

Political life
Dipu Moni was elected Member of Parliament for Chandpur-3 Constituency as an Awami League candidate in 2008 Ninth National Parliament Election . [9] At the same time she was appointed as Bangladesh’s first female foreign minister in Sheikh Hasina’s cabinet . He was elected Member of Parliament for Chandpur-3 Constituency as Awami League candidate in 2014 10th National Parliament Election . [10] Also chaired the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs . He was nominated as joint general secretary in the 20th council of Awami League held in 2016 .
In the 2018 11th National Parliament Elections, he was elected Member of Parliament for Chandpur-3 Constituency as an Awami League candidate. [12] Simultaneously appointed as Minister of Education . [13] She is the first woman education minister of Bangladesh .
Besides, she is currently the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Asian University for Women .
