Burn Gorman is an American popular actor who grew up in Los Angeles, California, USA. He made his television debut in Granada TV’s Coronation Street in 1998 playing Etheric Foundation cult leader Ben Andrews. He then played William Guppy in the BBC One adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Bleak House in 2005. From 2006 to 2008, he played the role of Wayne Harper in the first two episodes of the BBC science fiction series Torchwood. His other BBC television roles include Lark Rise to Candleford, Funland, Bonekickers and the BBC Four television drama The Curse of Steptoe, and as Nicholas Farlow in the BBC miniseries Jamestown. He has acted professionally in popular television series such as Dalziel and Pascoe, Casualty, Merseybeat and The Inspector Lynley Mysteries. In 2011, he played Adam, the lead character’s stalker and fellow immortal, in Sky1’s second Martina Cole adaptation, in 2014 ABC’s Forever. He was in the cast of Seasons 3 and 4 of HBO’s Game of Thrones. His films include The Best Man, Layer Cake, Penelope, Cemetery Junction, The Dark Knight Rises and Fred Claus. He played Dr. Herman Gottlieb in Pacific Rim and its sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising. He has worked on radio in ‘The Babington Plot (2008)’ and authorized histories: ‘The Killing (2010)’ and ‘The Reckoning: The Death of Christopher Marlowe (2022)’. Gorman’s theater credits include Flush (Soho Theatre), Ladybird (Royal Court), and Gong Donkey (Bush Theatre). He was nominated for the 2010 WatsonStage Theater Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Bill Sykes in the musical Oliver’s West End Revival (2008–9). Outside of London he has worked at Nottingham Playhouse, Plymouth, Theater Royal, Royal Exchange and Contact Theatre, where he was nominated for the Manchester Evening News Best Newcomer Award.
