Mara Hautea Schnittka, professionally known as Julia Montes, is an actress, singer and Filipino model of German descent. She was part of the “Goin ‘bulilit” event, before participating in the television series of Mara Clara.

Early life


Julia Montes was born in Quezon City in March 19, 1995, her mother is Gemma Hautea, Filipino and her father Martin Schnittka, German. Her father abandoned her when she was a baby and only her mother with a deafness problem raised her, with the help of her maternal grandmother, Flory Hautea. She has relatives in Germany and one of them is Andrea Schnittka, with whom she shares a similarity.

At the age of 5, Montes began attending modeling and modeling agencies. She remembers her and her grandmother’s dedication through: going to college, rushing to school and losing family time in the process until she was given a role in sponsorship of dairy brands, chocolate snacks and fast food. However, Montes said he has never competed with anyone and only in the entertainment industry for his needs. Describing his ambitions as a child, Montes said, “Since I was a child, I have only had three dreams: to be a soldier, cook and flight attendant.”

Personal life


In June 2015, Montes completed her culinary career at the Culinary Arts Center in Manila with fellow actor Yam Concepcion. He was a Catholic. In December 2016, Montes reunites with his biological father, Martin Schnittka, at Bellini’s, Cubao, Quezon City. She revealed it through her Instagram account of meeting with her father and expressed gratitude to her German cousin Michelle Lloyd and CocoJul fans for opening the way to meet him.

Career


2001-2011: The beginning of a career and success


Montes started out as a commercial model before appearing in various television shows. She began her acting career with a small role when she appeared in several GMA television shows such as Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga in 2001 as the daughter of actors Robin Da Rosa and Angelu de Leon, and several episodes of the now- defunct anthology drama Drama . Montes starred in several ABS-CBN television shows such as Hiram (2004) and Maalaala Mo Kaya before appearing in Goin ‘Bulilit’s children’s television show in 2005. She also appeared in several TV series in 2008 includingWild Flowers and I Love Betty La Fea . These parts led him to star in a series on Goin ‘Bulilit where she played various roles in different comedy situations until he left the show. Also that year, Montes, as Abby, starred in the drama episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya titled “Card”, the story of a girl who misses her parents while under the care of a guardian. The following year, she appeared in the drama Katorse with the guest role in the final episode of the series starring the shy girl Nellie. She was later cast as the teenager Mara, a character of the same name, in the 2010 Gymnasium teen series.

In 2010, Montes’ successful role came as he played the character of Clara del Valle / David in the remake of Emil Cruz, Jr.’s comedy drama series . the longest surviving Mara Clara , a drama about two teenage sibling rivalry, with actress and best friend Kathryn Bernardo . Montes changed his stage name from “Mara Montes” to “Julia Montes” To avoid confusion and complications, as the title character of Mara will be played by Bernardo.  The final episode of the series earned a national rating of 43.4% by Kantar Media, making it the highest-rated teleserye episode to date on ABS-CBN that year. Montes’ role as the main antiheroin in the series received a positive public rating and brought him a leading role in film and television series in his future project.

In 2011, Montes made her debut in the film Way Back Home , which aired in August 2011 to positive reviews, as Jessica “Jessie” Lorraine S. Santiago, with Mara Clara actress Kathryn Bernardo. Montes received positive reviews from critics, with Abby Mendoza of the Philippine Entertainment Portalwrites, “We have to commend Julia Montes for deviating from the classic grasp, a girl character that has made life miserable for poor Mara. It is Julia’s strength to gain the sympathy of the audience while playing a haughty girl who causes pain. his character, and more importantly, it made them see where he was coming from. Julia was amazing. ”  That same year, she worked with Bernado for the third time on the teen television program Growing Up , in which she plays the character of Samantha “Tammy” Magtoto, OFW’s daughter who entrusted her custody to Mikaella Dimalanta (played by Bernardo).

2012-2013:  Walang Hanggan  and films


In 2012, Montes’ biggest breakthrough came when he starred alongside Coco Martin in a series of romance drama Eternal .  The critically acclaimed series is based loosely on the 1991 film Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit , a film based on Emily Brontë’s classic novel, Wuthering Heights. Infinity tells the true story of three different generations – the triangular love between Virginia, Margaret, and Joseph; poor lovers Marco and Emily; and young lovers Daniel and Katerina. It stars Martin as Daniel Guidotti, Richard Gomez as Marco Montenegro, Dawn Zulueta as Emily Guidotti, Susan Roces as Virginia “Henya” Cruz, Helen Gamboa as Doña Margaret Montenegro, and Montes, as Katerina Alcantara. It also marked the on-screen collaboration between Coco Martin and Julia Montes, and the unifying project of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta’s eternal love couple. Writing for the Philippine Entertainment Portal , Mark Angelo Ching considers Montes’ decision to jump into a mature role after holding a teenage role inMara Clara seems to be a “start” at first, but all doubts are cast aside when she is seen holding her own against Martin, believing that the “natural naïveté” works against the mature prospects of the cast.

The series and Montes’ performances both received widespread praise from critics as it maintained the top spot and dominated the audience ratings for most of its broadcast period, as the only Philippine drama in 2012 to surpass the 40% margin. The final episode of the show gained 45.4% of viewership nationwide. Untitled emerged as the most watched show in the second half of 2012, dominating the list with a national TV rating of 38.4% based on Media Media.  Following the success of the series, Infinity airs overseas with Mother, Sister, Son , andBe Careful With My Heart .  The series entitles Montes to the title of “Phenomenal Primetime Princess;” she was eventually named “Princess of Philippine Television” during the 44th Box Office Entertainment Awards (GMMSFI). Martin, in turn, earned the title of “Prince of Philippine Television” (“Prince of Philippine Television”). For their love affair together in No End , Montes and Martin are also in second place as the most popular romantic couple at the 4th FMTM Awards.

Montes then acted in two other 2012 films, as Ligaya in the movie The Reunion , and as Pat in The Strangers . With revenue of more than ₱ 6.6 million nationwide for the first time, the film remains the highest grossing release. In 2013, Montes co-starred in the romantic drama A Moment in Time with Martin, as a success following their winning partnership in Infinite .  The film grossed more than ₱ 64,543,391 nationwide,  and Montes received its first nomination for the FAMAS Award for Best Actor. Jennifer Dugena of the Philippine Entertainment Portalpraising her performance, writing: “Julia plays the role with an innocent and mature blend, she is perfect as an experienced young woman to the truth and facts of life. Her vulnerability and strength shine through as she surrenders herself to the emotions generated by Martin’s character, her emotions are solid, intense and deeply affecting, which plays its role in dispelling any doubt about its ability to portray young or adult characters. ”

Then in 2013, she appeared in Maalaala Mo Kaya’s episode titled “Cross”, a story about a girl named Diana who was sold to a prostitute by her own adoptive mother at age 15. The episode attracted 34.2% of viewers nationwide, making it the most watched program on March 9, according to data from Kantar Media.  The same year, Montes starred alongside Enchong Dee and Enrique Gil in another Ang Puso Opening television series based on the theme of forgiveness and second chances. Montes succeeds in the role of Sarah Beltran, whose role she says in the interview is to “adapt” to real age. It ranks 10th in the Top 15 program from January to December 2013.

2014 – present:  Duplicate Kara  and award winning

Montes’ profile continued to grow in 2014 when he appeared as Mona Roque-Hidalgo, Samuel’s secret spy for best friends, in the drama drama Ikaw Lamang where she returned to star with his lead actor in Infinite Coco Martin as Samuel Hidalgo / Gabriel Hidalgo. It also stars Kim Chiu as Isabelle Miravelez-Hidalgo / Andrea Hidalgo and Jake Cuenca as Franco Hidalgo. She received the nomination for Best Drama Assistant in the series at the PMPC Star Awards for TV 2014. In January 2015 at the 13th 1Gawad Tanglaw (Academy Award-winning Academy Award nominee), Montes, in collaboration with actress Angel Locsin, won the Best Female Actor for her role in Ikaw Lamang .  That same year, Montes prepared the family drama Adolfo Alix Jr. Padre de Familia , released on February 20, 2016, with Martin and Nora Aunor. Filming takes place in Malaysia .

After starring in the role of Ikaw Lamang , Montes starred in the horror film Halik sa Hangin with Gerald Anderson and JC de Vera. Directed by Emmanuel Quindo Palo, the film marks Montes’ third collaboration with Palo and aired on January 28, 2015.  Montes continues to be praised and recognized for his role as Mia Generoso in Halik sa Hangin . In a review from the Philippine Entertainment Portal, author Jocelyn Valle states that “Julia, the actress shows her commitment and commitment to playing Mia. She makes the audience feel Mia’s emotional level entering the realm of romance – anxiety, excitement, happiness, happiness – up to the bites of reality. in an important place where Mia is suspected to be a mental case, and Mia must convince everyone that she is telling the truth. ”  Montes’s performance allowed him to nominate Young Critics Circle for Best Performance.

Then in 2015, the chairman of Dreamscape publicity Eric John Salut confirmed on February 12, 2015 via Twitter that Montes will be united again with the leading men Walang Hanggan Coco Martin in upcoming TV project.  Martin and Montes reunite in the new summer episode of Wansapanataym, known as “Yamishita’s Treasure”, marking their second collaboration as a love partner on television since their hit TV series Eternal . After the premiere of Halik sa Hangin , Martin said in an interview that he personally asked Montes to be the lead woman for his new project because he was proud and impressed by his performance at Halik Sa Hangin..  Montes stars as Tanya, a princess in the financial world, who meets Yami and helps her find treasures in the world. “Yamishita’s Treasure” Wansapanataym went on air for 12 weeks, from March 22 to June 14, 2015.  Later that same year, Montes appeared in Maalaala Mo Kaya’s episode titled “Picture”, a story about a young woman named Rosa who fell in love with an unknown man, is married. The episode recorded a national TV rating of 37.2%, making it one of the most watched episodes of Maalaala Mo Kaya .

After pursuing several film and television projects involving Kiss in the Wind , Wansapanataym , and in Maalaala Mo Kaya’s episode , Montes starred in Doble Kara in 2015 (starring Carmina Villarroel, Mylene Dizon, Ariel Rivera, Allen Dizon and Sam Milby). The series touches on the lives and stories of Kara and Sara, who were separated in their childhood because of Kara’s urgent need to cure leukemia . Montes takes on the role of identical twin brothers Kara and Sara, who share the same look but exhibit completely different personas. Double Karapublished by Dreamscape Entertainment Television, and aired on August 24, 2015.  Montes received the Best Actor Award for two consecutive years at the presentation of the 14th Tanglaw Gawad Award, as well as being nominated for the PMPC Star Award in the Best Drama Actor category for his role.  In February 2016, Star Style magazine posted a 2016 look for Montes to develop himself as a serious actor rather than a movie star.  Montes plays JC Santos in Wansapanataym”Annika Pintasera” on April 2, 2017 in which she plays the character of Annika de Cuadra, a rich girl who doesn’t appreciate the people around her.

In 2017, Montes will star alongside Lorna Tolentino, Angelica Panganiban, Cherry Pie Picache, Paulo Avelino, and JC Santos in the drama Dreamscape Entertainment’s Victims of Love , which will be released this year.  He announced that his new role would be physically demanding compared to previous projects.
