She is in the news recently due to her controversial statement on Islamic Prophet Mohammad and the age of his third wife, Aisha, at the time of their marriage and the consummation of the marriage.

Education –

Nupur did her early education at Delhi public school, Mathura road and completed her college education in bachelor of arts from Hindu collage Delhi university. During her studies, she joined Akhil Bhartiya Vidya Parishad and also won the election of the student’s union of Delhi university. Nupur Sharma completed her master’s degree in law from the London School of economics.

Career Background –

Nupur Sharma is an Indian politician and social worker working for women’s empowerment. She was active in politics since her college days. Due to her good orator, she was elected as a member of the student wing of the Sangh Parivar Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in 2008. After that, she went to London for her higher studies, where she obtained her LLM from the London School of Economics. After completing her law studies in London, she came back to India in 2010 and started her political career by joining the BJP party as a worker. She had worked with senior BJP leaders like Arvind Pradhan, Arun Jaitley, and Amit Shah in 2013.

Controversy –

In June 2022, Nupur’s remarks during a debate on a news channel about the Prophet Muhammad expelled her from the party. Her alleged insulting remarks drew outrage from a number of Gulf countries, including Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, to which India has apologized. Sharma later retracted his remarks and said in a statement posted on Twitter that her intention was not to hurt anyone.
Under pressure from Arab countries, the BJP fired her for making disrespectful remarks.
