Rashad McCrorey is an African-American Activist, Entrepreneur, and Writer. Born and raised in Harlem, New York. Rashad McCrorey was born on November 2, 1979 in New York, USA. His parents are from South Carolina and later they moved to New York City.
Rashad’s first recorded human rights effort was the March 13, 2014 March for Justice in Washington, DC. Rashad organized Drew University students to join the National Action Network’s rally in Washington, DC, where thousands of people protested the recent deaths of unarmed African Americans men by the police. During the March on Washington, The Hill news interviewed Rashad where he revealed that it was his third rally in three days in his third state.
Three weeks after the March on Washington, Rashad made his first trip to the African continent by visiting the country of Ghana. In Ghana Rashad continue to discuss human rights issues in America on an international platform. The experience in Ghana had such a positive impact on Rashad’s life, he retired from school for one semester to return to Ghana where he had the idea of setting up a tourism business to bring other members of the African diaspora to Ghana.
Rashad is known as one of the first travel influencers to bring a large quantity of African-Americans to Africa in the Social Media era. Rashad was acknowledged by various media outlets during Ghana’s Year of Return Festivities.
As of 2019 Rashad is known for bringing approximately 300 first time African American visitors to the continent of Africa which include the countries of Ghana, Egypt and Kenya.
March 2020 he sponsored 200 Ghanaian school children for field day activities in the Akuapem mountains as the beginning of his giving back efforts to Ghana’s Beyond the Return campaign.
In January 2020, he became the first African American journalist for Modern Ghana news, writing in the Diaspora, Lifestyle and Opinion sections of the newspaper.
