Rebecca Shafee is a scholar of Bangladesh who was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. On July 24, a clip of the 1993-94 national debate on Bangladesh Television went viral on Facebook. In that two and a half minute clip, a student of Holy Cross School is seen giving a speech in an impeccably beautiful manner. The student’s name is Rebecca Shafee. That video has recently gone viral. The then Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia presented the award at the event.Some people are listening to that video more than once. Although it may seem like an ordinary girl’s school speech, there is magic hidden in her throat. She grew up in Dhaka, Bangladesh and moved to the USA to study physics at Caltech. After finishing her undergraduate studies, she moved to Boston to pursue a PhD in astrophysics at Harvard University under the supervision of Prof. Ramesh Narayan and Dr. Jeffrey McClintock.
