Rituparno Ghosh was a talented filmmaker who was born in 31 August 1963 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India and died in 30 May 2013 at the age of 49 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
He was a prominent figure in the LGBT community in India. In the last years of his life, he was experimenting with a transformational lifestyle. He openly acknowledges his homosexuality, which very few people in the Indian film world have done. He was one of the few openly queer figures in Indian cinema and is considered an icon of the queer community of India.

Family members and Education –

Rituparno Ghosh was born in a Bengali family in West Bengal. His father, Sunil Ghosh, was a documentary film maker and painter. He completed his schooling at South Point School. He gained a degree in economics from the Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He also has a master’s degree in economics from the same university.

Career –

1994 to 2013, only 19 years. Of these, a total of 19 pictures of Rituparno Ghosh’s talent and talent crop. Each picture is unique, impeccable. Out of 19 films, 12 won national awards. Rituparna created a new genre of Bengali cinema after Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Ritwik Ghatak. He was influenced by the works of Satyajit Ray and was an avid reader of Rabindranath Tagore. Tagore’s works are frequently referenced to in his films.
He started walking holding the ‘Hirer Angti’. It ended in “Chitrangada”. Her hairy box remained incomplete. Occasionally he gave a gift of April 19, Dahan, Utsav, Chokher Bali, Dosar, Raincoat, Shubh Mahrat, Sob Choritro Kaponik, Nouka Dubi and a bunch of gems. His storytelling style made almost every one of his movies touch the eyes of the audience. His talent was not limited to film directing. He has also worked as the editor of two popular Bengali magazines.
