Early results indicate that Zayeda has secured an impressive 16,203 votes in 30 out of 480 centers, positioning her as a front-runner. Her closest competitor, Azmat Ullah Khan of the Awami League, garnered 14,117 votes, demonstrating a close contest between the candidates. Sarker Shahnoor Islam Rony, a supporter of the BNP who defied the party’s decision to avoid elections under the current government, managed to secure 1,301 votes.
Throughout the day, the election faced some challenges, such as reports of agents being forced out of centers, the presence of unauthorized individuals in voting rooms, technical issues with CCTV cameras, and slow functioning of electronic voting machines in certain locations.
