Early life
ATM Shamsuzzaman was born on September 10, 1941 at Nawabari in Daulatpur, Noakhali. Village house was the boro baari of Bholakot in Lakshpur district and lived in Dhaka in Devendranath Das Lane. He studied at Pagose School, Collegiate School, Loknath High School in Rajshahi. Another friend of him was Prabir Mitra at Pogoz School. He passed matriculation from Mymensingh City Collegiate High School. Then he was admitted to Jagannath College. His father Nuruzzaman was a renowned lawyer and Sher Bangla was a politician with Fazlul Haque. Mother Nurunnesa Begum. Shamsuzzaman was the eldest of five brothers and three sisters.
